SPOTLIGHT:
It’s December and all sorts of holiday shenanigans are already underway, and people have begun asking me for my favorite albums of the year. The truth is that I pretty much stopped listening to full albums around 15 years ago. Don’t get me wrong if I’m looking forward to a release then I’ll most likely hear the whole album, and when I do my weekly digging and listening, occasionally I’ll hear something that’ll send me down a rabbit hole that can result in listening to a whole bunch of stuff by one artist. But usually, I’m onto the next song and then the next. As a radio guy, and through my work in television and film, I listen to songs for a moment, will it fit into a show, will it help cover a scene in a movie? It’s my job. Relaxing for me isn’t listening to more music, although once in a while I’ll pull a favorite catalog release and crank it while I’m working out or cleaning. The point being I don’t do the “Top 10 albums of the year” thing, however, I am working on my second annual Spark Radio 100 for 2021, which we’ll publish next week, and it’s packed with cool songs released in 2022. Stay tuned.

Until then please take a listen to this week’s fab new adds to the playlist and/or a look at this fab new video (directed by Maria Palena) for their Talking Heads -influenced song “Marathon Of Anger” from this year’s Sympathy For Life album.
