Spark’s music master and contributor Nic Harcourt on the new sounds to hear this week.

Freedom Fry

This week’s new adds to my Spark Radio: New Music New Artists playlist, include “Le Point Zero” from LA’s Freedom Fry. Husband-and-wife duo Bruce Driscoll and his Parisian-born wife Marie Seryat have been incredibly prolific these past few years with a series of singles, EP’s and a couple of albums of warm California indie-pop.

“Le Point Zero” is the first track from their forthcoming French-language album and already feels like the perfect soundtrack for any riviera you can get yourself to this summer.

For fans of: Fruit Bats, Lucius, Moon Taxi, AIR.

Estereomance

Estereomance created by ex-Chamanas Manuel Calderon and Paulina Reza, along with Adria Del Valle came to life from the border towns of El Paso, TX and Juarez, Chihuahua. Their new single “Dung Ding Dang” (video below) brings a new twist to the burgeoning indie bedroom-pop movement. It’s dreamy, breezy, has verses in both Spanish and English and they also made a super cool video in the desert at the border where through some great editing and costume changes, they at first glance appear to be a nine piece band.

For fans of: Buscabulla, Daywave, Julia Holter, Salt Cathedral.
